Reverend Delphain Demosthenes
Delphain Demosthenes came to New York from Haiti with his family as a young teen, and graduated from New Rochelle High School. After completing his undergraduate education at Nyack College, he studied at Yale University’s School of Divinity (M.Div., 2000) and New York University’s School of Social Work (MSW, 2006). He met his wife, Françoise Hamlin at Yale where she earned her Ph.D. (2004). They married in New Haven, CT in June 2006, and spent 2 years in western Massachusetts where Del worked for the Friends of the Homeless in Springfield as a therapist and Françoise worked at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. They relocated to the Providence area in the summer of 2008 when Françoise got hired at Brown University. They have one son, Elijah, who is twelve years old.
Del was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1999. He served as a ministerial intern at the Community Baptist Church in New Haven, CT, from 1999 to 2000; as an affiliated minister at the First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, CT, from 2002 to 2004; and as a pastor of the French-Speaking Baptist Church of New Rochelle from 2000 to 2008. Del first joined the MBC family in November 2008 as an interim pastor and has been with MBC ever since.

Del's favorite bible verses are Matthew 6: 33-34 & Philippians 4:13

1. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

2. I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.

In his leisure time, Del enjoys eating out with his family at some of their local favorite spots, playing and watching basketball with his son, and PRAYING earnestly that their NY Knicks will win a championship in their lifetime.
